VNAA been contacted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to help the office better understand nonprofit home health members' perspectives and experiences regarding Medicare fee-for-service post-payment audits.
At the request of Congress, GAO has begun this examination in its role of providing oversight the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The focus of the GAO review will be four types of contractors that conduct Medicare post-payment audits:

  • Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC),

Medicare home health agencies have been identified as a provider group that has been affected by these contractors' audits.
