VNAA Helps To Craft Telehealth Legislation
At the request of Representative Mike Thompson (D-CA-5), VNAA recently provided recommendations on a discussion draft of the Telehealth Promotion Act of 2014. Rep. Thompson sought input from VNAA and other stakeholders to strength and enhance the Telehealth Promotion Act of 2014, prior to introduction. VNAA's recommendations include:
· Medicare certified home health and hospice agencies should be included in the definition of eligible providers.
· Funding should be available to home health and hospice providers for telehealth costs including reimbursement under Medicaid, Medicare and alternative payment models.
· Telehealth should be expanded, including home-based video services, for home health and hospice patients, as well as for those on home dialysis.
· The originating site must include the patient's home or other setting that serves as a home.
